Figueroa Learns That if You Act Like a Bitch, You Get Treated Like a Bitch
By Chris Mottram | May 14, 2008
After Monday night’s Nats game in Shea — a game the Nats won 10-4 — Mets starter Nelson Figueroa had this to say about Washington daring to enjoy themselves in the dugout:
“[The Nats] were cheerleading in the dugout like a bunch of softball girls. I’m a professional, just like anybody else. I take huge offense to that. If that’s what a last-place team needs to do to fire themselves up, so be it. I think you need to show a little bit more class, a little bit more professionalism. That’s why they are who they are.”
And a 9-20 career record with a 5.12 ERA this season is why Nelson (picture on the right) is who he is: A minor leaguer:
The Nationals might have acted like a bunch of softball girls, but Nelson Figueroa is the one who’s a step closer to the beer leagues.
The Coney Island product became a feel-good story after making several strong starts for the Mets in April following more than three years out of the majors. But Figueroa was designated for assignment Tuesday after the Nationals pounded him.
So yeah, like Dre always say, “If you act like a bitch, you get smacked like a bitch.” It’s all in the game, playboy. (Sorry, been watching The Wire recently. I don’t understand a word of it.)
