Another First for the New Nats Ballpark
By Chris Mottram | April 30, 2008
Ryan “Mr. Walk-Off” Zimmerman and Nick Johnson (must find good photo of his incredible mustache) went back-to-back against the Braves last night. Obviously, this was the first time that’s happened in the new park:
Zimmerman also added a bases loaded double later in the game. These are great signs for a guy who came into the game hitting .222 with a sub-.100 RISP average. So, as we head into May, perhaps the slump is over. Which means perhaps it’s time for you to get your Mr. Walk-Off shirt! They make a great Mother’s Day gift. It’s just what she always wanted. Aside from a daughter instead of you.
It’s not all roses for the Nats, however. Chad Cordero managed to hurt himself trying to close it out in the ninth, to which I say “hooray!” Watching him try to whip his arm across that fat belly of his only to see the radar gun read “79″ is just brutal. I want him nowhere near the mound if the Nats are up by any less than eight runs.

I went to both last night’s and today’s games, and it’s such a relief to see Zimm hitting the ball again. Also of note:
* I may be developing a crush on Wil Nieves, because he is awesome.
* The Nats are 4-1 in games I have attended–too bad I can’t afford season tickets right now, or we’d win the goddamn division. (blah blah Hill staffer bitching about being underpaid blah.)
* Unrelated: YAY WIZARDS!! bummer about Gil, though.
