Caps Bring It Back to D.C. for Game 7

    By Jamie Mottram | April 22, 2008

It was an incredible comeback win for the Caps in Philly on the strength of a brilliant, NHL ‘94-style goal from Nicklas Backstrom and another from fellow young gun Alexander Semin as well as two barn-burners from The Great 8, Alexander Ovechkin. The series culminates in D.C. tonight, hopefully with a game-winner much like the one Dale Hunter sent home to beat the Flyers in a Game 7 (after being down 3-1) 20 years ago:

Either way, I haven’t been this excited about hockey in, well, ever. More Caps-Flyers blogstuffs:

I think there’s some sort of rule that if you’re gonna use Dale Hunter in a post, you must link to this video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Xte-Vtxg-m8

It seems odd now, but somehow Dale Hunter is as much a part of my childhood sporting memories as Art Monk or Cal Ripken, Jr.

Well, the guy did sign our pucks at an in-store appearance in a Burger King.

Blech. As a Bruins fan, I must advise against getting overly excited for a Game 7. The loss last night coupled with having spent the entire day drinking on Beacon Street made for some sloppy tears in the apartment, let me tell you.

At the risk of bringing excess negativity to the table, I thought you guys might be saddened by this piece of news.

For the record you guys kind of rubbed me the wrong way with: “Caps Win What Was Apparently An Extremely Important Hockey Contest”, because I had been hit with the Cap’s bug about three months earlier - and your ignorance in that post seemed insane to me. However, I see that the bug has made its way to you fine gentleman and I’m glad to see that. GO CAPS.

With all do respect, I fucking hate the Bruins for forcing a Game 7. Versus showed that game instead of the Caps-Flyers, as they were supposed to according to the Guide, so I couldn’t see the game down here in Charlotte.

Instead, I listened on internet radio. Not quite the same.

And for T.Really … sorry I wasn’t on the bandwagon as early as you were. It’s kinda hard to catch the “Cap’s bug” living in North Carolina. Believe it or not, the south does not give a shit about hockey at all.

Wizards to Caps: Brother, can you spare some heart?

That does suck. We definitely had the Caps-Flyers game up here… maybe because the B’s are on NESN? Either way, the Caps game was definitely a better watch than the curb-stomping we got in the 3rd period. Yikes.

The interesting thing for both of us (but more importantly for the Caps and the NHL as a whole) will be how quickly we all LOSE the Caps bug. I felt it fading when we were down 3-1, but thank goodness I’ve relapsed.

I’ve been following the Caps since AUGUST!!! and I am not even a Caps fan!!!

glad to see you guys got it together, and I hope they keep it going. Cant wait to see a Caps/Pens Eastern Final.
