Photo Essay: My 1st Game at Nats Park

    By Jamie Mottram | April 11, 2008

lo-duca-ass.jpgThanks to Comcast SportsNet, I scored last minute tix to Nats-Marlins for my first trip to Nats Park. And, while I wouldn’t even begin to know where to find a beer on the outside, and the fans were middling on the inside, she’s a real beaut. Not a Camden or PNC-esque gem, but a damn fine stadium nonetheless.

I took my Dad, and, despite Paul Lo Duca’s best efforts (that guy can’t hit is fat can’t throw), we enjoyed the game and the oversized scoreboard and Racing Presidents that came with it. Gratuitous pics after the jump …

Yo, my half smoke picture was ten times better.

The Red Porch looks like a closed-in restaurant. It’s the Red Loft that’s cool with the flatscreens, full bar and open-air view of the field.

That’s where I’d be on football Saturdays and Sundays in September, or NBA/NHL playoff evenings in April-June.

Nice seats! Nice shirt! One night I’m totally going to buy a $5 walkup ticket and hang out in the Red Loft bar. Maybe that can be the next sports blogger happy hour… although, a tad expensive.

I was there last night with my dad, too. Can we trade Jailbait Lo Duca and get Schneider back? At least he could play defense.

P.S. Thanks for hooking up the Mr. Walkoff tee for the ladies :)
