Hand Zimm the Gold Glove, MVP Now*

    By Chris Mottram | April 3, 2008

Jamie is the Jinx Master, which is why he wasn’t allowed to go near a post about the Nats starting 3-0, but I’m not sure I should either. The power of the jinx is strong. So I’m not gonna allow myself to get all excited about them winning their first three (only 3-0 team in baseball, not a big deal), but hey, it’s pretty awesome. And it’s extra awesome when you consider that all three have come within the division, with two at the expense of hated Philly.

Last night’s win was perhaps the most impressive. Tim Redding(!) out-pitched Cole Hamels, giving up one hit over seven innings. (While we’re here, WTF is up with the Nats starting pitching? Redding > Hamels, Chico > Brett Myers, Odalis Perez > Tim Hudson.) The pen was equally as dominant, pitching three innings of no-hit baseball. Of course, Redding wouldn’t have been a winner without the help of Ryan Zimmerman’s two web gems and sixth inning home run:

Naturally, the Nats first loss will probably come this afternoon against a washed up 45 year-old.

*Exaggeration? Duh. But he will win a many a gold glove before it’s all said and done.
