Notre Damn Is ‘Poppin Their Collars Now’

    By Chris Mottram | March 21, 2008

    masonloss.jpgSo, that went well.

To paraphrase Mike Donnelly in Black Sheep, it’s kinda easy to win when you NEVER MISS A SHOT! Or at least that’s how it felt during the five minutes of the game that I actually got to watch. The bar I went to turned it off (and rightfully so) less than halfway through the first half. So, already embarrassed enough, my GMU hoodie (and Final Four t-shirt underneath) and I left to watch the game at home. But, of course, CBS had already turned it off as well (and rightfully so).

Based on the highlights below, I guess it’s all for the better. Perhaps worse than the loss itself was that Gus Johnson couldn’t even get his “rise and fire!” on. Although at the 1:42 mark he does give us a gem:

Maryland lost as well last night to ‘Cuse, so my only rooting interest left this March is for Jamie’s bracket to implode when Louisville loses today.

    UPDATE:
After the jump the completely insane pre-game speech from Jim Larranaga.

From The Sporting Blog (via HHR):

Slightly less inspiring that his “UNC is Superman, but our fans know we’re Kryptonite” speech two years ago.

“Ever since I can remember I’ve been poppin’ my collar.”

If GJ had worked that in with the same grace he worked in “Pause” on Spike Lee, I would give him the title of G.O.A.T.
