Mike Scott Is Happy to See You

    By Jamie Mottram | March 7, 2008

Before getting to today’s Cardboard Icon, let’s acknowledge yet another baseball card blog, Shoeboxes and Rubberbands. It’s quite good, though I think we all know that blogging about one’s collection is my thing. (Thanks to 289 for the tip. Go buy his new Steve Garvey/Padres shirt for the effort.)

Moving on … I loved ‘91 Fleer Ultra for putting four photos on each card and hated Mike Scott for torturing the ‘86 Mets, but the combination of the two? Well, some things you can’t unsee.

Mike Scott was a bad ass. Unhittable on Nintendo RBI too by the way. Did he not have some crazy screwball or scuffler pitch?

These baseball cards are making me feel old Mr.I but I still love them.

It was a splitter, one that was believed to be illegal (at least in ‘86), though that’s an unproven claim, as far as I know.
