Muskrat-Skinning Maryland Pageant Girls
By Jamie Mottram | March 1, 2008
This may or may not qualify as sporting, but the Post’s piece on the Eastern Shore’s Miss Outdoors 2008 pageant is notable nonetheless. Take a look at the winner and featured contestant, with their fur:

Pretty girls, sure. But muskrat skinning? Not much of a turn-on. Crab picking, now that’s a Maryland-style skill that could tempt a man.

Take it from (someone not afraid to admit he’s) a native, the only Eastern Shore tradition better than the Natty Outdoor Fest is Tilghman Day (Benny T’s Day At The Bay not included).
With competitions like crab picking, oyster shucking, boat docking, and anchor throwing - does the fun ever start? Not until you mix in a few thousand 10oz Buds along with the Budweiser Girls (circa 1986).
Long live the shore.

Dog, I am SO sorry. I read this so fast, I thought it was a Ms. Eastern Motors pageant.
