Terps Decide They’d Like to Win Again

    By Chris Mottram | February 29, 2008

Here’s Maryland’s season in 10 words: They sucked, then they were good, then they sucked again.

So, I’m hoping last night’s win over Wake means they’re back on track after losing their last two to Virginia Tech and Miami. Which also means they’re right on pace to be lose-to-American bad just in time for the Tourney — which also assume they’re getting in.

Just like when they were in their “good” stage, Gist and Vasquez were an unstoppable rebel force last night. Gist put up a career-high 31 (and added 10 boards), with Vasquez scoring 24 (and, amazingly, only missing six shots). As the Terps are wont to do, they nearly blew a big lead … twice.

And because you like moving pictures, not words, here’s the highlight of the game: A Jerome Burney (!) block, which leads to a Vasquez-to-Gist oop:

Also, it should be noted that for the second game in a row, Boom had his ‘fro rowed-up. He best let that thang breath for the ACC Tourney.

(As you can tell, I gots me some sweet access to this new Red Lasso thing. It’s probably the greatest invention ever.)

The time has come for you to rev up your moped and get in some serious stalking on General Greivis.

It’s the one true way to get him to play consistent ball. Scare the Venezuela out of him.

Empreror Gist and General Greivis to Wake Forest:

Now witness the firepower of this fully ARMED and OPERATIONAL battle station!

      Suckers.

Both of the guys above can testify that I’ve been high on Burney for a long time. He’ll be a good starter in this league.

      Jerome Burney is the motherflippin’.

And what is this Red Lasso you speak of? I’m losing my edge.
