Rod Langway Is Helmet-Less and Happy
By Jamie Mottram | February 20, 2008
My Dad and I are going to the Caps game tonight, which reminds me of the late ’80s when we’d go to Caps games out in Landover and sit in his construction company’s seats with the rest of the blue collar crowd berating the opposition, especially if they hailed from Pittsburgh, Philly or New York. It’s where I learned to swear and what icing was and that Mario Lemieux is a giant pussy and all that good stuff.
My favorite player, then and probably forever, was Hall of Famer Rod Langway, one of the great defenders of his era and the all-time greatest Capital. The coolest thing, then and definitely forever, is that he didn’t wear a helmet on the ice, meaning he is BAD ASS. And looking at the feathered hair and fu manchu on 1984 Topps Rod Langway, I can’t say I blame him.

Can I throw my vote in for greatest Cap of all time for Peter “James” Bondra? God I miss NHL ‘93 and Sega.

Langway was a beast. Is he not even wearing shoulder pads?
