Zorn Ready to Lead the ‘Maroon & Black’

For a little perspective on how surprising this was, we ran a poll this week asking who the Skins should hire. The choices were Spagnuolo, Mariucci, Meeks, Fassel and Other; which allowed for write-in votes. Jim Zorn was so far off the radar that not only did we not include him, but neither did any of the 365 votes that could’ve written him in.
So forgive me if I’m still wrapping my head around this and forming an opinion on the hire, which was celebrated with a rather dull press conference this afternoon. La Canfora and Steinberg have each posted extensive notes, but the two revelations that blow my mind are as follows:
- The Redskins didn’t speak to Zorn about the head coaching job until Thursday, which means they put all their eggs in Spags’ basket and scrambled when that fell apart.
- Zorn said his family is excited to dress up in “maroon & black” to support the Skins.
The Zorn Era may end well, but it certainly hasn’t started so good, and boy am I glad that Russ Grimm never got an interview. Either way, this is bound to inspire a Blog Show tee this week — in maroon & black, of course — and “Zorn Star” is the early leader. What you got?

How can you reasonably expect anyone to top “Zorn Star”. That’s just unfair.

I think that during the interview process, he was apprised of a “new jersey” this year. To wear for ST.
The colors are probably maroon and black.
