Mr. Irrelevant’s Endorsement for The Redskins Head Coaching Job Is …
By Jamie Mottram | February 6, 2008
The readers have spoken, and 44% pledge allegiance to Steve Spagnuolo.
Despite not hearing of the man prior to this season, we support the masses as he fared 38 points better against New England’s vaunted offense than the incumbency. Looking at this considerable sample size, the Redskins would be 38 points better on defense — per game, mind you — in 2008 so long as Danny and Vinny give the people what they want.
Plus, Mrs. Spagnuolo would give Steinz plenty to blog about.
Full voting results:
- Steve Spagnuolo, 44% — Meaning the majority will be pissed any way you cut it.
- Steve Mariucci, 37% — Someone rigged the vote on Mooch’s behalf. Probably Mooch.
- Ron Meeks, 8% — Fueled by Unsilent Majority.
- Other, 7% — Write-ins included Russ Grimm (a lot), Dan Steinberg, Steve Spurrier, Daniel Snyder and Kill Me Now.
- Jim Fassel, 4% — Meaning this may be the most unpopular hire in league history.
Update: A day later, Spags is no longer in the running.

The classic look-away breast grab. He learned that move from Isaiah after a Knicks’ game.

They really ought to consider a Steinberg regime. Littles could be the new Vinny.
