Plax Might Make Me Root for the Giants
By Chris Mottram | January 30, 2008
I’m out here in Arizona for Sporting News, so I’m using most of my material for them, but I saved one nugget from Media Day for Mr. I (although I’ve been told you could find this “nugget” on SportsCenter as well): Plax loves him some Art Monk. His exact quote yesterday:
“Please get Art Monk in the Hall of Fame; greatest receiver to ever play the game.”
He went on to talk about how he wore No. 81 in high school because Monk was his favorite player. He grew up in the Virginia Beach area (where everyone becomes either a pro athlete or a successful rap artist), so it makes sense that he’d love him some Redskins.
In my epic search to figure out which team I’m rooting against on Sunday, is this enough to make me root for the Giants? Eh, I think I’m still sticking with “I hope Tom Brady breaks his leg on the first play and the Pats still win” as the best case scenario.
Also worth noting: His watch, as seen to the right. It was definitely the finest time piece I saw all day.

You know, it should be noted that every time the Giants have won the Super Bowl, the Redskins won the year after.
