Dee Brown Is Wearing His Reebok Pump

    By Jamie Mottram | January 16, 2008

To date, each edition of Cardboard Icons has featured a player from a team I rooted for growing up. This breaks that mold, but I think we all had a little love in our hearts for Dee Brown on that February night in the winter of ‘91. Here’s the king, forever on his thrown, wearing footwear of the future.

The closest I ever got to the Reebok Pumps were the Mutombos by adidas.

They had neither pump nor fashion value; past present or future.

for the life of me, I can’t remember who sponsored the dunk contest that year.

I could have won the dunk contest too if the rim was only 3 feet off the ground.

Above is the cover of the never produced DTC DVD.

While Jaime and Chris will most certainly only notice the “heavy jortage”, the CEO (Waving the flag) is wearing the identical Reebok Pumps.

Yes, year 2 of the DTC we invented such fashionable combinations of jorts, backwards jerseys, and a sneaker selection that dates back to 1992.

My how have times changed, even though jorts and backwards jerseys are still acceptable, DTC Captains now can only wear Redskin themed shoes.

I miss those old upper deck cards… the way they have the hardwood floor as trim around the card makes it look great. I think I still have this complete set of cards…

I am more impressed with the skateboard ramp like hair.

The midget bouncer at Fur could get busy on that 3 foot high rim.

After my Larry Bird converse weapons that weighed 20lbs a piece wore out I purchased the reebok pumps. The pumps lasted about a month on the hardtops at Hockersmith Park.

I don’t know which is more awesome. The hair or the slouched Reebok socks?

Does anyone remember the David Robinson Nike shoes that you needed an actual pump to blow up? Pretty Awesome.

This post probably foreshadows where the current popular heely shoes will be in 10 years.
