The Biggest Game in FedEx Field History?
By Jamie Mottram | December 29, 2007
FedEx is an abomination. It is bereft of personality, charges way too much for beer and is hell getting in and out of. The only thing worse than the digs has been the team that occupies it as the Redskins have gone 81-93-1 since it opened in ‘97. Both have been so bleak that Washington Post columnist Mike Wise makes a big claim regarding tomorrow’s matchup with Dallas:
“Irrespective of who plays for the Cowboys, it’s a monster game, the biggest single event involving the Redskins in the 10-year history of FedEx Field.”

I’d already called this the rubber match of Gibbs 2.0, but this is a bold statement, one that’s difficult to validate. Thankfully, Chris’ Sports Blog has taken care of that by listing the 10 biggest games in FedEx Field history. Where does tomorrow’s rank?
#5) … Would be bigger if the Cowboys had something to play for. That it’s still the fifth biggest game out of 89 home games since 1997 says a lot about how good (or not) the Redskins have been in those 11 years.
So which is it: No. 1 or 5? And how long have they been there: 10 seasons or 11? Naturally, I go with the blogger over the columnist on both (he’s probably right on the first point and definitely on the second), but it doesn’t matter. The Skins must win to make this one worth remembering at all.

I think that designation is best left for Stephen Davis to make.

After the apparel post, I thought I would share this photo that I snapped the other day outside of my building. Please note the guy in the middle… wearing a Redskins “construction” helmet on the job.
