Second Annual Top 40 Sports Figures Of The Year, as Decided by Bloggers

    By Jamie Mottram | December 26, 2007

michael-vick-week.jpgThis is something we did at the end of ‘06 and decided to do again this year, the difference being that, instead of being read by hundreds of Mr. I readers, it’ll be read by hundreds of thousands of Yahoo! users.

So check the top 40 sports figures of ‘07, and thanks to:

Also, peep Mr. Irrelevant’s personal top 10 after the jump …

    1. Clinton Portis. I interviewed him and asked if he’d sign my credential, which crossed some sort of line.
    2. Gilbert Arenas. His 25th was a personal highlight.
    3. Sean Taylor. Still heartbreaking.
    4. Chris Cooley. Caused Skins fans to go ballistic.
    5. Dmitri Young. “Save Da Meat” indeed.
    6. Michael Vick. We didn’t want to cover him but couldn’t help ourselves.
    7. Jason Campbell. It ended sadly, but he’d come a long way.
    8. Joe Gibbs. It’s a love-hate-love thing.
    9. Barry Bonds. Free Barry Lamar.
    10. Erik Bedard. From Cy Young candidate to trade bait in four months flat.

Here’s to hoping next year LSWTF can bribe their way into the list of blogs participating like we were a Russian figure skating pair. Beautifully done, though I think the OJ and Kobe quotes had to be my favorite.
