Tejada Traded to Houston for Five Guys (Players, Not Burgers)
By Jamie Mottram | December 12, 2007
I spent much of 2005 arguing with our friend Lush about who was better: Derek Jeter, the shortstop of his New York Yankees, or Miguel Tejada, the shortstop of my Baltimore Orioles. Now that Tejada has been traded to Houston, I’m conjuring those debates and it seems like they happened a million years ago.
Five players come to Baltimore in return, four of whom I’d never heard of before today, though I’m sure we’ll learn more in the hours and years ahead. All we know now is that Tejada the Oriole, despite three good offensive seasons, was a disappointment as the team sucked all the while. His production plunge this summer was the nail in the coffin of a tenure that probably peaked during an exhibition; the ‘04 Home Run Derby when he dropped bomb after bomb while yukking it up with countryman Big Papi. Where was that again? Oh, yeah … Houston.
It’s that mental image that I’ll recall when thinking of his time in Charm City: a big smile, a bounce to his step and an electric stick. But the O’s desperately had to shake things up, and it was past time for him to go. I just hope these new five can ball.

I’d trade anything for some Five Guys right now.

Actually Tejada for a Five Guys burger sounds about right. But the burger has fewer hormones.

I would give up Five Guys for one year if it would mean the Orioles made the playoffs.
Actually that’s a lie.

Wow. Five Guys is the shit. They don’t have them “down here”.
Oh yeah, and congratulations for somehow dumping that steaming pile of B-12 ridden donkey doo on another team while getting something in return. Well done O’s.

If Five Guys were to throw in a box of peanuts, this deal might have been executed months ago.

Wow, five comments about five Guys and nothing about their fries, which are the best you’ll find this far from the shore.

The fries are a given.

do you go Cajun fries though?

No, I get regular fries, but I douse ‘em in vinegar, ketchup and salt, all of which is good for you.

Cajun on the side. That way I can have cajun fries, malt vinegar fries and ketchup fries.
Jalapeños on the side too, otherwise they overwhelm the flavor of the burger.
