Gilbert Goes Down, Our Hearts Go On
By Jamie Mottram | November 21, 2007
Arenas re-tore his meniscus, had surgery today and will be out for three months. I have no words, but Wizznutzz encapsulates our innermost thoughts and feelings.
Three months from now is late-February. IF Caron and Antawn stay healthy, the Wizards can hang around .500, right? And, IF that happens, Gil can swoop in and play hero as Washington enters the wide-open Eastern Conference Playoffs as a low seed, right?
I choose to remain optimistic, so the silver lining in this is that Mr. Irrelevant faves Andray Blatche and Nick Young will now get more run. Our hope rests on their narrow, still-forming shoulders. So get well soon, Gil.
Update: I-Dot Carter has more. Turns out this is “a partial tear of his left medial meniscus,” which sounds slightly different than the previous injury, “a torn left lateral meniscus.” Also, Wilbon’s column is like the 1,200-word version of this post.

I don’t know.
The team has had some offensive continuity with Arenas out, but without a threat for scoring or comedy, the Wwiz have been severely reduced by this loss.
