New DC Ballpark Pics: The Most Beautiful Sight These Eyes Have Ever Seen

    By Jamie Mottram | November 14, 2007

Chris noted that there’s grass on the field a couple of weeks ago, but JD Land has all kinds of new photos from yesterday’s tour of the Nats’ stadium.

Barry Svrluga offers the skinny, including discussion of the Sunday night season-opener, all of which has me super-stoked. Really, I could break into CAPS LOCK!!1! at any moment. Not because the stadium looks tremendous — it’s hard to tell, really — but because a state-of-the-art ballpark is standing five minutes from my doorstep. Godspeed, Clark Construction!

Update: Thomas Boswell pens fawning praise about Nats Park. It’s an enjoyable read, though the lead makes me LOL, which was probably not the author’s intention.

Update No. 2: This is looking awfully similar to St. Louis’ ballpark.

Update No. 3: The park should be easier on hitters than RFK but neutral as compared to the rest of the league’s stadiums.

The only thing that can make this a sweeter deal is the promise of chicken and mambo sauce at every concession stand.

Clarification: I am both an Orioles fan and a Nationals fan, if that is allowed.

Holy shit, did Boswell say the stadium is “the bomb”? That’s amazing.

Personally, I would’ve gone with “Trump tight,” but I can see he’s just now catching up with mid-90s slang, so I’ll cut him some slack.

It is beautiful, I’ve always wanted a great view of a parking garage in left field

It’s always a good thing when there’s grass on the field.

now if they could just do something about the hideous color scheme and logo.. and players on the team… and worn out mascot outfit… and their ability to lose TV color commentators every year…

Im with Jamie on being stuck cheering for the Os and Nats. Park looks awesome.

I can not wait to do 11 dollar shots of Tequila and chase them with 9 dollar beers at the bar in center!

It’s all a moot point when the commie in Baltimore owns your TV revenue
