Just in Case You Need More Caliendo
By Chris Mottram | November 7, 2007
Gmail’s spam filters suck. And this morning, I was grateful for that fact because I received a great piece of unintentional comedy from TBS. From what I can gather, the people at TBS think you’re stupid. There is no other explanation for the following three sentences which appeared atop the email:
Don’t worry. Even though TBS’s coverage of the Major League Baseball Playoffs is over you can still see Frank Caliendo on TBS in his new late-night comedy series FRANK TV. And he’s available for interviews on Nov. 13.
You hear that people?! You can finally stop worrying! Not seeing four Caliendo impersonations during every commercial break was really starting to effect my sleep. And as for that Nov. 13 interview, you can get in on it. Maybe. It’s going to be conference call style, so email my comedic spammer at Erin.Naman@turner.com if this is the sort of thing that interests you.

I’m torn because while I like Caliendo (remember when he showed up at the SBL studio eating a calzone off a cafeteria tray?) and think he’s funny, the show looks insufferable. Also, I love PR-type emails. They are so choice.

Who?

His Madden impersonation is good, but is there any comedian who can’t do Dr. Phil, Dubya and Jack?
Besides what the hell is the premise of the show actually going to be? Will he continue to run back the same six impersonations over and over again?

Anyone who has listened to Czaban or LeBatard for any length of time has been forced to deal with Caliendo for years now.
Funny in small doses, not every week.

I enjoy him in small doses, I don’t know if I could handle a whole show of Caliendo. His Jim Rome has the speech pattern but not the voice, though his Jack is dead on.
