Lost Treasure Found: Jacoby and May’s 1984 Theater Vision TV Commercial
By Jamie Mottram | November 2, 2007
There’s no telling why I’m obsessed with 1980’s Redskins this week, though it may have something to do with this year’s model losing by 45 on Sunday. Either way, third in the series that began with Darrell Green’s immortality and was continued by Dexter Manley’s infinite sadness is this long lost ad starring Hogs-turned-broadcasters Joe Jacoby and Mark May:
Despite being only six when this aired, it’s still familiar, perhaps due to friends who still imitate Jacoby’s lines to this day. Lingering speech problems aside, the real atrocity here are those gym shorts, revealing bits of Jacoby that should never see daylight.

Wow. How far is the team off from getting an NFC Champions graphic on an Eastern Motors commercial?

This is a great find, hopefully some of the later Jacoby ads (where he doesn’t have Mark May stealing his lines) are out there too. I
wantdemand Yalich Clinic ads too!November 5th, 2007 at 3:05 pm
Indeed, the holy grail of YouTube. My brother and I to this day quote that damn commerical. I will note that there are two version of the commercial. The version where Jacoby goes “World Champion Warsh-ington Redskins”, and version you posted where they edited out “World Champion” since they got spanked by The Raiders in the Super Bowl. I also like the part of the commercial where the guy that’s building a TV is smoking a large pipe.
