Koko B. Ware’s Must-See Music Video
By Jamie Mottram | October 24, 2007
If you only have two minutes to spare, watch an uncomfortable Sam Cassell interview (scroll down) conducted by some jackass who reinforces my hope that karma is a bitch. But if you have five minutes, go watch the Cassell clip and then this ’80s-rific Koko B. Ware’ ‘Piledriver’ music video.
It’s circa 1987 to be exact, and the WWF vintage is so choice, as evidenced by cameos from Hacksaw Jim Duggan, the Hulkster, a skinny Vince McMahon and a bunch of other wrestlers I don’t recognize as well as some girls in short skirts and jorts. Needless to say, it’s highly recommended and one of many reasons why Koko B. Ware was nobody’s favorite wrestler.
Inappropriate hugs to Patrick Imig at the indispensable Joe Sports Fan for sending this one. For more ’80s wrestling vids, hit iptw’s YouTube page.

You’re crazy.
Aside from the Junkyard Dog, early black superstars were at a premium. Koko B. Ware laid the ground work for the Ron Simmons’, Papa Shangoes and Kamalas of the world.

As a black man, I try not to endorse any images with my people under the moniker “Bobo.”
The shame is that I’m somewhat comfortable with the moniker of “Koko.”
