Orson Swindle Joins My New Stomping Grounds at Sporting News
By Chris Mottram | October 5, 2007
While I wait to move to Charlotte with eager anticipation and begin Sporting News’ site-by-site world domination, the guys down there have started doin’ big thangs. First, they brought in PFT’s Mike Florio (we WILL get that man an RSS feed someday) and Baseball Musings’ David Pinto. And now, they have conned the Orson Swindle Spencer Hall of EDSBS fame into writing for them. His first piece in which he compares Saturday’s big games to delicious sandwiches is brilliance, as usual:
Ohio State at Purdue: Fluffernutter
Oh, it looks like a real sandwich, and for the first few bites it almost seems like it. Ohio State quickly will dispel this myth by battering 5-0 Purdue, which has gotten fat on sweet, fluffy competition like Notre Dame, Eastern Michigan and Minnesota. … The pick: Ohio State.
I know, I know, it’s a column and not a blog, but it’s still Orson and it’s still awesome. Hopefully, once I get down there and establish my reign of terror, there will be some SN blogging in his future.

Congrats on the job and welcome to Charlotte. I’m not sure where SN is located but if its uptown then pat yourself on the back especially hard. It’s the land of milk and honey, and by milk and honey, I mean, hot women and more hot women.

Atlas: I spent three days down there staying in uptown while meeting w/ SN. It was like nothing I’d even experienced. The office is in uptown (right next to B of A Stadium) and I’ll be living there as well. Can’t wait.
