To Philly Fans: You’re Welcome. Sincerely, The Nationals

The Nationals had the chance to keep the hated Phillies out of October, and they totally blew it. And I’m not just talking about yesterday’s game. Over the last two weeks, the Nats played the Mets six times and the Phillies seven times. Back-to-back-to-back-to-back series with the Mets and Phils was how the Nats finished their season. And clearly Washington decided they wanted Philly in the postseason instead of N.Y.
The Nationals won five of six against the Mets in those series, while losing five of seven to the Phillies. That’s a big swing for the Phils over a 14 day time frame that may have had something to do with their eastern triumph. And as expected, Phillies fans are going sheepshit. From The 700 Level:
“As one commenter said, ‘If someone were to look at this crowd and not know the circumstances, they might think that the Phillies had just won the World Series.’ It was that electric.”
There’s also video in there from Enrico’s trip to the game yesterday. It’s a good thing they have something to distract them from McNabb being sacked 12 times in the massacre at the Meadowlands (okay, that’s a bit dramatic, but I love watching the Eagles lose).

You should thank the Philthies for letting you win the last game at RFK. We kinda felt bad.

Wow. I’d so much rather pull for the Phils than the Mets. But then again, I’m not that geographically close to either reasonably miserable fan base.

I bet WIP was about 99% complaining about the eagles today and .5 percent talking about the Phillies. The other .5 were the Flyers fans talking about the season starting this week.
