Mike Patrick’s Britney Spears Moment
By Jamie Mottram | September 23, 2007
In overtime of last night’s Georgia-Alabama game, Georgia holds ‘Bama to a FG on the first possession. During the ensuing changeover, NoVa resident and play-by-play artiste Mike Patrick strikes up one of the oddest conversations in sports broadcasting history, one which was mercifully cutoff by Matt Stafford’s game-winning TD pass on first down.
Because they’re awesome at what they do, Awful Announcing has the video. Please take 50 seconds to watch it and wonder WTF Patrick was thinking.
This, in concert with his “munch on the box” call from last month, is proof positive that Patrick’s having a season for the ages. Plus, he doesn’t have to work with Paul Maguire anymore!

This time next year, he’ll be indistinguishable from Jason Bateman’s character in Dodgeball. Can’t wait.
