I don’t want to get all emo on you, but it’s hard for a DC sports fan not to when reading Tom Boswell’s farewell-to-RFK column. There’s nothing much to add really, as Boz says it all; even going so far to use words such as “alabaster,” which I had to look up in the dictionary.
Opening Night two-and-a-half years ago was tremendous, and I can’t wait until the first game in the new, yet-to-be-named stadium next spring. This week’s hope is to get to one of these final RFK games, preferably the Sunday afternoon finale, where they’re handing out rock concert-style tees. Coincidentally, the only concerts I attended there — HFStival ’94 and ’95 — freaking ruled.
The game, regardless of outcome, should be much of the same, and for one-fifth of the price to boot. Plus, I’m a sucker for swag, so consider me hooked, as long as I get out of that lovable dump in time for Skins-Giants.
