Jim Thome Has Flair For Dramatic

    By Chris Mottram | September 17, 2007

While you were caught up in the glory of NFL football Week 2 (I hate you Bengals [survivor pool], but I love you Carson Palmer [fantasy league]), you may have missed Jim Thome hitting his 500th home run yesterday. It wasn’t just some meaningless blast in like the 3rd inning of a ChiSox game. No sir, this was a meaningless game-winning blast in the bottom of the 9th. The best part, as is always the case with WGN broadcasts, was the home run call (click Thome’s grill piece to launch video):

“You can put it on the board … Yes!” is hands down the best home run call in baseball. The worst? I would have to go with “An A-Bomb for A-Rod.” That makes me want to cut myself.

      1. I think the correct word might be flair.

      2. If only Buckhantz did baseball…. Then you would truly know the power of “DAGGER!!!”
