Scenes From the Maryland-West Virginia Game, Featuring a Mountaineer Mullet

    By Jamie Mottram | September 14, 2007

Mr. Irrelevant correspondent and Maryland badass Brad “Inside the” Parker — whom you may know from such productions as our MD football preview — was at last night’s beatdown in College Park. What follows are his pics and my words, a deadly collaboration:

The very rare buttcut mullet (at least he spelled Virginia correctly, unlike some people) …

A Maryland fan steals, sets fire to and stomps out a West Va. flag (apparently, Mattymatt’s lady is quite a philly) …

No one wearing a Northwestern women’s lacrosse shirt should be allowed at a MD-WVU game. The lovely getting after it on the shotgun is welcome anytime, however (hey, guy on the right, chug!) …

Our photojournalist Feeds the Turtle (Look at Testudo! He’s wasted!) …

Once the tailgating was over, this was as good as it got for MD fans …

A final note on this game: after losing badly to West Va. in Week 3 of last season, the Terps won six of seven, including five straight over UVA, NC State, FSU, Clemson and Miami. Just sayin’.

Update: Turtle Waxing has a solid game recap, and they’re aren’t so optimistic on this year’s Terps. Also, ACC Now points out that this loss pushes the ACC’s record vs. non-ACC BCS teams to 1-5 on the season.

I would say the TD drive after WVU scored its first touchdown was as good as it got for MD. It was 7-7 at that point.

Ah, when I showed up at the bar it was already 14-7. From there it got out of hand (31-7 at one point) rather quickly. I still would’ve liked to have been there though.

Yeah, I was there. High point was definitely when Keon took it in to make it 7-7. Pretty much downhill from there.
