Joey Sunshine Puts Hall of Fame on Blast
By Chris Mottram | September 9, 2007
As we prepare for the first Sunday of NFL football, let us not forgot about the great injustice done to Art Monk. The fact that he’s not in the Hall of Fame continues to be a complete disgrace to our great sport, and frankly, it’s bullshit. Joe Theismann definitely agrees, as he stated on the Redskins pre-game show this morning:
It just drives me crazy. The thing that bothers me so much is the subjective nature of the Hall of Fame. I’d love to sit down with any of the voters of the Hall of Fame and say, “Please tell me what the criteria is.” Art Monk, if there was a criterion, would have hit every one of them many times over. And I feel bad for Art; I feel bad for this franchise. For as many championships as the Redskins had during that period from the 80s through the 90s, to not have more than John Riggins and Joe Gibbs in the Hall of Fame is really a travesty of professional football. And to me, it demeans the Hall that you don’t recognize great players. You’ve got what, the 3rd or 4th leading receiver in the history of the game? No offense to Lynn Swann, he has 333 catches and played in what, four Super Bowls? Art Monk has over 970 catches and has three rings. Where’s the difference?
This was perhaps the most eloquent, coherent thought I’ve ever heard from Theismann. With my new found inspiration from Joey, I’m off to drink endlessly and watch the greatest team in the history of sport (I’m talking about the Redskins, dick). Enjoy the games.
Note: Swann actually had 336 catches, and Monk is 6th on the all-time list with 940 receptions, which doesn’t change the fact that Art Monk was three times the WR that Swann was.

And it’s his son’s b-day as well. For their collective birthday, we pulled out a god damn miracle win.
Yes, I referred to a Week 1 win over Miami as a “miracle.”

Ah, but does he do ballet like Swann?
