The U.S. Open Is Quite Glamorous

    By Chris Mottram | August 29, 2007

Maria Sharapova made her big ‘07 Open debut last night, and she did not disappoint. She came out in a red dress and then at one point proceeded to put on a sexy sideline show by spilling water all over her naughty bits. It certainly was on purpose, and was probably just for me.

Oh, right, her tennis wasn’t bad either. She beat some Italian chick 6-0, 6-1 in just 50 minutes. But back to the dress, here she is talking all about it at some Nike media event. The beginning starts with a “:10 Tease,” but in my mind, the entire video is more like a 2:50 tease:

I love how she explains the dress in total Tim Gunn terms:

“Last year it was all about Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and uh, this year I think it’s even more special because it’s all about the city and my love for the city … I wanted to incorporate the city skyline in the top of my dress.”

Oh yes, Maria, I totally see it. Nothing says “New York City skyline” like a seamless red dress with hundreds of Swarovski crystals. Bravo, my dear.

      Love the ‘Pova tag.

Although it’s reminiscent of Hova, who’s clearly much cooler than she.

Hova is probably cooler, but would you rather spend a night with him or Pova?

On second thought, you could take his leftovers, who are probably all hotter than the Pova, so nevermind.
