Skins Trade Pick for 34 Year-Old Guard
By Jamie Mottram | August 23, 2007
See that guy on the right who doesn’t look like a meathead at all? That’s Pete Kendall, the Redskins new left guard and replacement for $49 million man Derrick Dockery. He’s a disgruntled O-lineman who comes to Washington in exchange for what’s rumored to be a 4th-round pick in ‘09.
This bothers me for a few reasons:
- The pick going to the Jets may have been a 4th-rounder in ‘08, but, oh yeah, we already traded that one.
- Offensive line is the unit where continuity is of the utmost importance, yet we’re bringing in a new starter halfway through the preseason.
- We keep exchanging players with the Jets (Santana Moss, Lav Coles, Chad Morton, Patrick Ramsey, etc.), which seems weird.
Anyway, welcome to DC, Mr. Kendall. The left side of the line sorely needs you. Hopefully you’ll fit in just fine with Chris Samuels, Casey Rabach, Randy Thomas and Jon Jansen in protecting JC, paving the way for the Portis-Betts combo and forcing us to come up with a new Hogs-esque nickname, although I’m already partial to Dirtbags.
And I wonder if he’ll be invited to Jansen’s RV?

1.Maybe Daniel Snyder wants to have a weird thing going on with the Jets like the Danny Ainge and Kevin McHale.
2.Firefox truly is the best way to view Mr. Irrelevant.
3. Added your wonderful blog to ScottVanPeltStyle.com (svpstyle.com) Thanks for the laughs.
