Ryan Church Gets His Frank Howard on
By Chris Mottram | August 16, 2007
Okay, so Ryan Church’s home run last night in the Nats’ 4-2 victory over the Phillies wasn’t quite amazing enough to warrant a white seat, but it was probably the longest bomb I’ve seen hit at RFK. It landed in the right field upper deck, one section to the right of where my drunken group of five dollar seat dwellers were sitting. Enjoy the video and the commentary from Bob Carpenter and Don Sutton, and check out Church give himself a “wow” at the end of the clip.
It’s also worth noting that despite the thousands of typical philly douchebags who infested the stadium, I miraculously didn’t hear one single “E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles” chant the entire game. There truly is nothing more annoying than hearing humanity’s lowest common denominator yell that shit at a god damn baseball game.

Is that better or worse than hearing “O” during the anthem at nats/skins/caps/zards games?

It is far, far, FAR worse. I personally think “O’s” during any of those games (except maybe Nats) is acceptable. You’re voicing your support for a local team; nothing wrong with that.

I went to the Nats/Phils game last night. Austin Kearns and a blind first base umpire cost the Nats a chance at a W. Those Philly Dbags were in full force and I witnessed 2 full blown Eagles chants. I guess they are ready for Kevin Kolb to lead them to the promise land.

We must have been neighbors, we sat in 464.
Though two years ago we saw Bonds hit a ball in the same location, but a bit higher up, but it was damn close.
Though I will say this was the first Nats game where I didn’t hear a single “O’s” during the national anthem.

PS-I didn’t hear an Eagles chant either…until we got on the Metro

I think we were in 549, but I’m not totally certain. We just grabbed a group of seats that were not near any women and children.
