Photo Essay: Camden Yards Salutes Cal
By Jamie Mottram | July 26, 2007
The men of Mottram made it to Camden Tuesday night as Charm City said, “Way to go for making the Hall of Fame and stuff” to the baller still looming large over their once-proud franchise: Calvin Edwin Ripken Jr.
We hadn’t been to an O’s game yet this year, but they were giving away Cal 2131 bobbleheads so we had no choice but to make like Baltimorons and get our ass to the Yard. Thankfully, Daniel Cabrera threw seven scoreless and the Birds beat Tampa Bay.
Pretty pictures from the evening that was …

Just so you know what time it is as you exit off of I-95.

The camo hat, t-jersey, jean shorts, work boots … this guy is head-to-toe blue collar B’more. And that’s before he turned around to reveal reflective sunglassess and a ’stache.

This is our dad. He’s way into salt peanuts, shoulder straps and bobbleheads. Not really.

No obstructed view here. None at all. Camden Yards is beautiful. Move along.

Ex-Oriole HOFers Robin Roberts, Earl Weaver, Brooks Robinson and Eddie Murray all walked the orange carpet before Cal appeared on the back of a white Corvette like the homecoming king that he is.

A pair of plus-size models for hot fitted hats.

Thanks to delicious Esskay franks, I’m now the envy of cube farmers from beltway to beltway.

Is that kid about to eat his hand?

No, Scott, hot fitted kid wasn’t eating his hand. However, there was a girl elsewhere in the section who was chasing chicken tenders with a cheeseburger.

No, no. That chick was eating a cheeseburger, chicken tenders and french fries, and chasing it with about a 86 oz soda and a large lemonade.
