George Mason’s Sneaky Back-Pass Dunk

Last week during George Mason-James Madison, ESPNU color guy Dickey Simpkins kept describing Luke Hancock as “deceptively athletic” and such. At the time I thought this was code for “white”, but it turns out Hancock actually is a sneaky son of a bitch:

Mason hung on to beat William & Mary thanks in part to Hancock’s 17 points on just eight shots. Not sure whether or not the inbounds off-the-back pass was credited as one of his four assists.

In today’s other DMV college hoops action, Georgetown did what Maryland could not, hanging on to win at Villanova, therefore clinching the A-11’s top spot from here to eternity.

D.C. sports fan and digital media guy that's been doing this since 2004. Once threw a football further than Chris Cooley.

Love it. Also, thanks to Dickey Simpkins, I’m putting “Deceptivley Atetic” as my race on the next census form.

That back pass is every sneaky players favorite tool. Its baseball counterpart would be stealing home.

Indeed. A player for Xavier pulled it off yesterday as well, finishing w/ an and-one layup. I know b/c I saw it on SportsCenter’s Top 10, which SNUBBED Hancock.

Speaking of sneaky play. D.Hall saved some of his best playing for a game that couldn’t matter less.
