DMV: WaPo Has a New Sports Columnist

Washington Post Redskins reporter Jason Reid is now WaPo’s new sports columnist. I do not know if he’ll be good, but I do know this: they need him to be. [TBD]

No love for Mason’s curb stomping of Northeastern last night?! Come on Mottrams, show your CAA Pride!

Wouldn’t it be easier to just have the homepage redirect to

Ed, thanks for mentioning it. Which reminds me, what’s the best Mason hoops blog out there?

Sole, it does seem like that some days, especially when Steinz is firing on all cylinders.

I like for recruiting info and recaps. The CAA Zone forums are the place to go for wannabe coaches. Also, is written by Michael Litos and is hands down the best league wide analysis.

Thanks for The Mason Bench tip. I’m now subscribed.

As for CAA-wide stuff, I’m only really into JMU, Mason and UNCW a little bit. I do like Litos though; his book about Mason’s Final Four run is good stuff.

Too bad Steinz didn’t get the columnist gig. I don’t know if he would have wanted it, but he is certainly the most interesting person left at the rapidly-diminshing Post sports section.

I can’t recall ever reading anything Reid has written (I don’t read any Skins article at and won’t pay for shell of print paper anymore), so I don’t know if he is good or bad.

I think it’s a safe assumption that the Post probably needs to have at least one black columnist, both for its readership and lefty diversity sake. And with mayor mc cheese’s finally leaving for Bristol/Scottsdale, there was a void.

Does this guy actually live in the Metro Area, or will he be sending his columns in from out of town, like Sally?

Yeah, I’m pretty sure J. Reid lives in the area, and I should also say that I think he’s a solid — though not necessarily exciting — choice.

Either way, he’s better than a warmed-over Wilbon, and the Skins beat is in good hands with Rick Maese and Barry Svrluga, should they stay on it.
