DMV: The Most Ovechkin Goal of the Year

Ovechkin scored a nice one in Saturday night’s win. (Note: The headline is taken from a reporter’s question afterward: “Is that an Alex-being-Alex goal? Your most memorable of the year, highlight wise?” [Alex Ovetjkin]

This years Duke team is probably it’s best team in 10 years and could, for once, legitimately win the national title.

Maryland is one good scorer away from being really, really, really good. The free throw issue seems to be a major problem, but it always has seemed to have been a problem for Williams coached teams. Unless they come in being able to make them, players dont seem to develop that part of their game while at MD.

The sad thing is that Duke beat Maryland (though it wasn’t easy) without having their best player (Irving).

When Maryland gets Williams back, along with the maturation of Howard, Stoglin, Palsson, Parker and then add Faust – they could be ready for primetime again next season. Problem is, Duke might have their most guard/wing talent ever – with Irving (maybe), Dawkins, Curry, Thornton, Cook, Gbinje and Rivers. And they’ll have ANOTHER FRICKIN’ PLUMLEE. Ugh – that is going to be the most annoying team ever.

Pretty sure three Plumlees will make the 2011-12 Blue Devils the most annoying Duke team ever, yes.

Williams might just go pro this year. Terps are looking pretty good if Tucker keeps scoring. As for Duke, they need a little white guard (Wojo, Hurley, Collins) to reach truly annoying levels.

The media hype. The wildly over-rated this-is-my-first-basketball-game fan base. The hand checking, floor slapping undersized white guards.

Truly, all calling cards of an obnoxious Duke basketball program.

But for me, the mark of the most transcendantly obnoxious of Duke teams; a team “autographed” center court.
