Paul Lukas makes good point on some of the uniforms, but the new main logo–the W in the circle–is a fantastic one and his arguments that it lacks the “gravitas” of the old block letters is incredibly vague. I also believe that he originally said that he abhorred the original logo back when it was revealed when the team first moved. The curly W is one of the best logos in sports and Paul is ignorant not to realize that, though he also thought that the Caps new logo was offensive so I guess logos just aren’t his strong suit.

Also, making “Dubya” jokes based on the logo? What is this, 2004?

Re: Dubya — When the Nats first came to DC I didn’t like the red W hats for precisely that reason. Now I wear one without fear of association.

Jamie, I think it would have been more realistic to worry about looking like you were sympathizing with the Bloods (or Crips, when appropriately blue). Which is to say, not a worry at all.

The Nats uni’s are cartoonish/clown uniforms. The script Nationals was beautiful to look at, they should have gone that direction. And while the curly W is fantastic, the circular logo doesnt have the same visual weight or look as important as the bunting Nationals logo, thus it lacks gravitas…
