I heard Chris Carter give a good example today, if you are in a workplace can you casually say the n word? Or call someone a gay slur, even if it is clearly not serious? The answer is no, so I don’t understand why it is a big deal. Also as a commenter on the bog pointed out, the Packers are owned by over 360,000 people and I bet more than a couple are black.

I’m probably in the minority, but I’d let Rak walk at 10mm.

His shitty injury history scares me. And I gotta be honest, he feels a little overrated (Lavar syndrome). Yes, he can get in the backfield, but he hasn’t been a sack machine historically. At 10mm, I’d say vaya con dios.

And the N-word ban is stupid on multiple levels. Not just for the preachiness of the NFL head office, but also for the fact it seems like an absurdly difficult rule to enforce.

Lavar Syndrome haha. 10 million for somoeone whom has 8 games in which he’s had 2+ sacks…..2 of which were against the Raiders and 2 against the NFC East. 10 million = not taking the exit off of highway infinite sadness

I am fine with 10mil a year, preferably at 4 years. The cap went up so we have some extra room. He rushed the passer far less than every other 34 olb in the league and still had 10 sacks. He came in strong at the end after he was fully healed. He is a homegrown talent and severely underrated on this team by fans. Who replaces him? He is by far the best player on our defense, whatever that means. Also he probably leaves us, goes to Philly and dominates us for the next 5 years….

Rob Jackson replaces him, and he’s not a bad option at a tiny fraction of the cost. No, he’s not better than Rak, but Jackson is probably a starter on a lot of NFL teams. I think the “homegrown” aspect is what makes Rak tough to let go — but that’s a fan’s perspective.

This is a “What would heartless Belichick and the Patriots do?” scenario. My guess is they’d cut him loose. You’ve got a guy with questionable injury history, and he outperformed in a contract year. It just feels like a trap. I’d rather this team stay financially liquid and keep its options open.

But what the fuck do I know?

I don’t think he’s the best player on our defense, I think D-Hall takes that honor. People don’t like his personality, but he did a plus job on every good receiver we faced last year.

Plus he scored 3 tds last year, which was big when the offense sucked balls outside of Garcon/Reid/Morris.

I am not as high on Rob Jackson. He is a decent backup or role player. I don’t think he would start on many teams in this league. In fact from our defense I only really think that Cofield, Kerrigan, Orakpo and Hall would be starters, with Kerrigan and Orakpo the only guys who would start on teams with a good D. To replace an above average player with a below avereage guy is not what a sucky team like the Skins should be doing. Not like if we let him walk to save some money, we would turn that money into quality starters at other positions. We would be stuck with Josh Wilson’s, Josh Morgan’s, Stephen Bowen’s and our current Oline other than TW. We suck at signing FA’s, and no one wants to come here. Orakpo doesn’t suck and wants to be here. I like DHall, but if DHall is our best player our defense is worse than I thought. But hey, I do not know much either…

Did Dhall score any TD’s in games we won last year? I know one came against the Eagles… I know Orakpo had a nice INT for a TD against the Bears in a game we would have loss if we did not have those points.

Fair. No but each score did put us ahead… blow each game.

And yeah overall our defense sucks ass. We need Amerson to take steps forwards, maybe Keenan Robinson can actually play (but I’m not holding out for that).
